The State Aviation Administration of Ukraine reports about the collapse of all main data, for the first time for the last 9 years.
During the first six months of the current year Ukraine airlines operated 38.9 thousand commercial flights against 47.3.
Within the same period of time passenger transportation volumes reduced by 18.4%, with domestic airlines to fly 1.7 million passengers to international destinations and 0.5 million passengers - within the country. These readings are 19.5% and 14% less than the ones of the last year.
Passenger traffic fall is supposed to be the main reason for the many flights to be cancelled; especially it goes about the domestic flights. The Ukrainians started to choose cheaper railway trips, buses and cars. It should be pointed out that international destinations always were more popular than the domestic ones. It is directly linked to the needs of the passengers: when moving within Ukraine they tend to use other transport means. Such a particularity can also be caused by the low business activity inside the country.
Nevertheless, Ukraine airlines keep on opening new international destinations. Thus, two new routes, Kiev – Astana (Kazakhstan) and Kiev – Dusseldorf (Germany), were launched by AeroSvit this year. The airline Windrose opened such regular flights, as Lvov – Moscow, Kiev – Tashkent, Kiev – Astana. International Ukraine Airlines also launched the new exclusive route to Abu-Dhabi (UAE) from Kiev.
However, the loading of the aircrafts even for international flights is falling: the average performance amounted to almost 70%, this year it slumped up to 61%. For this very reason those airlines that are able to offer services with optimum “price-quality” relationship are most likely to gain the Ukrainian market. |
