The Resurrection Church
The Resurrection Church
Hustynia is a small village (155 residents), Pryluky Region, on the low left-bank terrace of Udai River. Here, in the picturesque locality owned by Princes Vyshnevetskys, the St. Justin Trinity monastery was founded. This architectural ensemble is an outstanding fortified memorial. It consists of powerful wall of stone and gate (1614-1636), Holy Trinity Cathedral (1672-1674), Resurrection Church (1636-1844), Sts Peter and Paul Church (1693-1708), Gateway Church of St. Nicholas (1693) and superior's house (1719). Hetman I. Samoilovych sponsored building of the main monasterial building-Holy Trinity Cathedral, which is a marvelous five-domed cruciform temple.

From 1845, the Resurrection Church had a crypt. The Gateway Church of St. Nicholas boasts innovative stairs leading from the gateway to the second floor. Near the monastery walls, there was a lean-to hotel (1843). There are practically no such buildings in Ukraine today. During its long history the monastery was repeatedly closed down and opened and finally became a convent. Possibly, that is why the greater part of buildings was rose-colored. Presently it is a perfectly restored monastery with tended territory and restricted admission. The monastery is popular with pilgrims and tourists.
