The Exaltation-of-the-Cross Church and bell tower. | Kamyany Brid (192 residents), Volo-darsk-Volynsky Region, is a hamlet on the left bank of Trostianytsia River. There are villages with analogous names in Baranivsky and Korostyshiv regions. Kamyany Brid emerged in the early 17thc. above the wide and picturesque Trostianytsia river valley, which is typical of Polissia. There is an old wooden temple in the outskirts of the village on the brink of coniferous forest terrace; the church is hidden in the thickets. The Exaltation-of-the-Cross Church and bell tower (17thc.) belong to the oldest and typical samples of wooden architecture of Zhytomyr Oblast. It is typical and strangely like the wooden St. Michael Church built in Kraivshchyna Village in the same district one hundred years later, though the younger church has no bell tower. |
