The Museum of Ethnography and Crafts in Lviv is the only one of the kind in Ukraine. A visit to the museum is a must for any who is interested in the spiritual and material culture of the Ukrainian people and for those who want to learn about local customs and traditions. They have unique collections of ceramics, woodcarving, embroidery, woven carpets, blown glass, and metal work of craftsmen from Lviv, the Hutsul region, and other western parts of Ukraine.

The Museum of Ukrainian Art and the Art Gallery are also worthy of mention. The Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art is one of the richest treasures of national art relices. Of particular value is the unique 14th to 18th century collection of galician icons and decorative wood ingraving. Among the treasures of the museum are over 6,000 valuable manuscripts, monographs and old printed books.

The House museum of Ivan Trush, a prominent Ukrainian painter (1864-1941), is a brunch of the Museum of Ukrainian Art. A close friend of Ivan Franko, Lesya Ukrainka, and Vassil Ste-fanik, Trush headed progressive trends in West Ukrainian fine arts for more than 40 years. His numerous landscapes are an expression of the painter's love for his motherland. His remarkable portraits of his contemporaries and his genre paintings depicting the life of the Hutsul peasants have become part of the treasury of the 20th century Ukrainian national art.
