Svoboda Avenue in L'viv, wide and lined with picturesque chestnut trees and maples, is crowned with the majestic building of the L'viv Opera and Ballet Theatre, named after Ivan Franko. It was built in the classical style by the local architect, Z. Gorgolevski.
The auditorium consists of stalls, a dresscircle, an upper circle and a gallery.
In the middle of the entrance hall there is a marble staircase leading to the upper circle.
The curtain "Parnassus", decorating the stage was done by G. Semiradsky, a leading master painter.
Many famous actors and actresses, opera singers, and ballet dancers have performed on the stage of our theatre including M. Sadovsky, Ivan and Kat-eryna Rubchacs, and Sophia and Joseph Stadniks.
