The L'viv region is situated in the western part of Ukraine. There are 20 districts and 39 towns in it. The largest towns are L'viv, Drogobych, Chervono-grad, Boryslav and Sambir.
Its population is 3 million people. The main ethnic groups are the Ukrainians (87,9 %), the Russians, the Poles, and the Jews.
The Carpathian Mountains are found in the southern part of the region. The Pikuj (1406 m) is the highest mountain in the Lviv region.
The Dnister is the largest river. Other rivers are the Styr, the Bug, and the Shklo. There are many lakes and forests in the region.
The L'viv region is an industrial one. There are many highly developed factories in it. Among them are Electron, Kineskop, and Switoch.
There are many general schools and higher educational establishments in the region. There are many museums, libraries, theatres, cinemas and clubs in it. |
