Every year when autumn comes people arrange the holiday of the harvest, "Obzinki". The last haystack is tied with a red strip of cloth. Then people carry it to the village singing songs. They leave a handful of stalks in the field, decorated with flowers and ribbons. They believed that their spirit could give strength to the soil to the whole household. The young people make a wreath of flowers, the symbol of a bountiful harvest. The best reaper is bestowed with that wreath and together with numerous inhabitants of the village they go to the village singing songs. |
