From August 20, 2009, the International Joint-Stock Air-Company ?IR URGA launched charter flights between Kiev and Baghdad (Iraq) on a regular basis.
Regular charter two-way flights ‘Kiev-Simferopol-Baghdad’ aimed to supply humanitarian aid to the country shall be operated two times a month under the agreement with Ahmed Burtad, the Minister of Transport of Iraq, on the basis of the license issued by the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine.
The flights shall be operated by AN-24, on Fridays on the route ‘Kiev-Simferopol-Baghdad’, and on Mondays on the route ‘Baghdad-Simferopol-Kiev’. This airline has got IRAK Airways guarantees on servicing of ‘Kiev-Simferopol-Baghdad’ flights in the airport of Baghdad. Besides, those who have a wish to visit Baghdad, shall be visa-assisted by ?IR URGA company. In addition, this air-company considers a possibility of operating extra flights as far as the groups are created or on request.
International Joint-Stock Air-Company ?IR URGA was founded in 1993 on the basis of the State Flight Academy of Ukraine. The park of this airline consists of 15 aircrafts AN-24 and AN-26. During 8 years the company has been actively involved into international air services within the framework of the UN programs realization.
Moreover, AIR ARGA is the first airline that since 2000 launched flights from Ukraine to Iraq in order to supply humanitarian aid and also to fly statesmen and businessmen for them to mend cooperation between two countries.
The experts do not exclude the possibility of launching regular flights between these two states in the nearest future.
