|Should you plan a trip to Ukraine it is advisable to apply for a visa not less than one month prior to your desired departure date. According to the President’s ruling of September, 2005, citizens of Swiss Confederation, Liechtenstein, Canada, Japan, the EU and the USA do not need visas for entering Ukraine anymore. Although, this regulation is related to the short-term visits, up to 90 days. However, for the reconfirmation, it is recommend to contact the Ukrainian Consulate in your country before traveling. As for the other countries’ citizens, in order to obtain visa to Ukraine, the following documents are usually required:
a) visa support document (letter of invitation and/or hotel(s) confirmation);
*among other documents related to the purpose of entry in support of the application one can also submit Business Visa, Visa for Humanitarian Mission, Student Visa, Private Visa, Tourist Visa, Transit Visa, Scientific Visa, etc.
b) passport/ travel document;
* the one valid for at least 1 month after the expiration date of the requested visa and having at least one blank visa designated pages
c) passport-sized photo(s);
d) consular processing fee receipts;
e) visa application form (can be PDF downloaded or taken directly at the Ukrainian Consulate)
It should be mentioned that invitation letters are not necessary for the citizens of US, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, Slovak Republic, Turkey and citizens of the countries of the EU when obtaining official, business, private, cultural and scientific visas.
All applications must be correctly filled out; otherwise the application will be unprocessed and returned. It’s better to wait till your visa is obtained before buying tickets.

It should be pointed out that if he citizens of the above-mentioned countries enter Ukraine with the purpose of employment, permanent residency, study and work at the diplomatic missions in Ukraine or with any other purpose or if they are going to stay in Ukraine for more than 90 days, they must obtain appropriate visas.
Anyway, you should consult the Ukrainian Consulates in your country in order to obtain all the information necessary and submit your application form in time. And remember, the requirements are constantly changing, so do not rely on the information in this article only and be sure to consult the Consulate in person.
